State of Decay 2 will maintain Undead's focus at least until the push toward State of Decay 3's launch is approaching. Undead Labs also confirmed recently that State of Decay 3 is in pre-production. State of Decay 3 is likely some time away from release. No gameplay was shown of the new game, so no one should expect it anytime soon. The implication being that State of Decay 2 support probably won't go that far, and likely won't last anywhere near that long. One thing that's especially notable from Undead Labs' reply is that it doesn't address whether support for State of Decay 2 will last up to the release of State of Decay 3 or if it will end when the sequel launches. But that doesn't mean State of Decay 2 will be supported forever. Judging from the Twitter reply, Update 19 won't be the end of State of Decay 2's support.
