  • Create your custom knight order as soon as you can, so you can build it up, but join an existing order, and do the quests for them. The one thing you shouldn't do is join your own order, because that automatically makes you the Grandmaster, and you lose out not only on the stronghold, which is bad enough, but also on three extremely useful NPCs, some special items unlocks, etc. You can create, train and then upgrade your custom knights and sergeants, and still progress in the quests of the order you, yourself have joined. There is no problem if you create a CKO before you finish the Knight Order Quest, as long as you do not join your order, at least in the last version.
